1. What is a wine cookie?

Italian wine cookies (also called ciambelle al vino) are a classic rustic Italian treat made with wine, olive oil, and simple pantry ingredients. They're lightly sweet, crispy, and perfect for pairing with beverages or snacking straight from the bag!

 

2. What flavors do you offer?

We offer three wine cookie flavors — The Original (white wine & olive oil), Subtle Lavender (floral lavender notes with white wine), and Delicate Chocolate (cacao with a rich mid-palate finish). We also make Salt & Pepper Breadsticks seasoned with fennel, black pepper, and Himalayan salt.

 

3. Are your products vegan?

Yes! All of our products are vegan and nut-free. However, they are not suitable for anyone who is gluten-sensitive or allergic to wheat.

 

4. Will you ever offer a gluten-free version?

We get this question a lot and we appreciate the love! However, gluten-free is not something we plan to offer. Our recipes are rooted in tradition and crafted exactly as Gramma intended — and we're keeping it that way! 💕

 

5. What ingredients do you use?

We use a thoughtfully curated blend of ingredients, including certified organic flour, extra virgin olive oil, sugar, fennel seeds, cacao powder, lavender, and black pepper. We also use white wine, Himalayan salt, and filtered water — because every detail matters when crafting something truly artisanal.

 

6. Are your products made in small batches?

Absolutely! Every item is handmade in small batches with hand-rolled care at our artisan bakery in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

8. Do you ship nationwide?

At this time, we ship exclusively within Arizona. We just recently added free shipping on orders over $100 within Arizona! Please note that we do not ship June through September due to the Arizona heat, or any time temperatures are forecasted to exceed 95°F — because your cookies deserve to arrive in perfect condition! However, we are happy to hand deliver orders in the Scottsdale area year-round. To arrange a delivery, simply email us at contact@carmellasjoy.com with your order and we’ll take it from there. 💕 

 

9. Can I build my own order?

Yes! You can choose one of our curated trios or mix and match your own selection of cookies and breadsticks.

10. How do I enjoy wine cookies? 

The possibilities are endless! They're wonderful on a charcuterie board, paired with wine, coffee, or tea, as a dessert accent, or simply eaten right out of the bag as a snack.

 

11. What wine pairs best with each cookie flavor?

The Original pairs beautifully with white wines. The Delicate Chocolate shines alongside a bold red like Syrah or elevates a dessert. The Subtle Lavender is gorgeous with something bubbly or a sweet white.

 

12. What pairs well with the Salt & Pepper Breadsticks?

Our Salt & Pepper Sticks are incredibly versatile! They shine on a charcuterie board, pair wonderfully with Italian beer, and can even stand up to a big bold red wine. Try wrapping them in prosciutto for an elevated appetizer — it's one of our favorite ways to serve them.

Carmella Guidarelli was the heart of our family — a remarkable, beautiful woman who lived to be 101 years old. Her greatest joy in life was cooking and feeding the people she loved. Every recipe she taught us was made with love, tradition, and a little Italian magic. Carmella's Joy was born in 2023 to carry her legacy forward and share her authentic Italian recipes with the world. She is with us in every single batch. 💕

We are a small batch artisan bakery based in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
